Here in America, the Pennsylvania Germans practiced Fraktur art from the mid 18th to the mid 19th centuries. Fraktur blossomed into a uniquely rich, colorful and iconographic form of expression and were tied to rites of social life, such as birth and baptismal certificates, marriage and house blessings, book
